Et voilà ! Bryan Josh et sa bande ont remis ça ! Ils ne peuvent pas s'en empêcher, comme une obsession galopante. Enracinée. A moins qu'il ne s'agisse d'une savante gestion des affaires... allez savoir. Bref, les voici une nouvelle fois lancés à toute berzingue dans le repiqué de luxe d'un Pink Floyd post Waters. Une humeur celtique de plus en plus lointaine mais l'effet Valium plutôt efficace.
Espoir. Ces eaux stagnantes seront-elles être secouées de soubresauts rythmiques comme nous le promet le titre ? Que nenni. La fleur au bout du fusil, nos amis attaquent plutôt mou du genou. Quelques titres anecdotiques ("Broken Glass", "The End of the World", "Black Rain") ou franchement annexés par la voix platouille d'une Heather Findlay sous Prozac ("Out of the Green Sky" balourd). Le côté traditionnel disparaît carrément sous un drapé déjà-vu peu convaincant ("Ghost in Dreamland"), voire inachevé ("Coming To").
Attention, la tambouille ne démérite pas. Fort bien produite, vous pourrez l'écouter sans honte de passer pour un aventureux. Beau et neurasthénique à la fois, l'ennui plombe l'ambiance avant que le disque ne prenne la tangente en fin de parcours.
Deux cascades de diamants. Un "Carpe Diem" magnifiquement illustré par l'introductif Troy Donockley (de Iona) et le morceau titre, "Storms Over Still Water", affublé d'un solo vertigineux - subtil croisement des sensibleries Gilmour / Latimer. Emporté. Transcendé. Un régal intégral !
Alors quoi ? Pour ce final enchanteur, on pardonnera à Mostly Autumn de rentabiliser son fond de commerce basé sur un instinct caméléon, doublure efficace mais trop rarement consistante du Floyd (phrasés, compositions, chants, arrangements). Ces 16 minutes valent-elles d'investir ? A vous de juger.
