Voici un message de Ian Jones à propos du prochain album de KARNATAKA intitulé "Chasing the Monsoon news" :
"As reported, we are in the process of finding a new drummer and I am very pleased to say the response has been superb. We have a very strong shortlist and will be holding auditions in the next week or so. We will announce the new drummer as soon as possible. We came very close to having Gavin back on board but unfortunately his touring commitments with Fish made it impractical. It's unfortunate we have had to cancel some gigs but it was completely beyond our control.
The "Chasing The Monsoon" album is tantalisingly close to being finished! I've been working in my own studio in Kent and travelling back and forth to Steve's studio in Swansea the last few weekends - we've been working on a completely new track (working title Sky High) which sounds stunning and will possibly be the closing track on the album and the last track we work on. We have some more vocals to record and then we will be looking at various studios to mix. One of the options being considered is Peter Gabriel's Real World.
On the subject of recording I thought it might be an idea to explain the recording process with Chasing The Monsoon. We have tended to work in short, intense spells of writing and recording, interspersed with longish breaks. This way of working has kept the whole process very fresh and also given the individual members the time to work on other projects.
I know I am probably completely biased (!) but the Chasing The Monsoon album is one of the most exciting projects I have worked on and it's important for people to understand it is not a 'side project' but something equally important to me (and Lisa) as Karnataka. As such, it deserves all the time and attention we can give it, however it does mean the Karnataka album will be delayed. It's simply impossible to find the time to work on both and I am not prepared to compromise either project/album. The good news is that all the Karnataka material is written and recording is underway! We decided not to tour this autumn to ensure we could dedicate more time to recording.
Another reason for some of the delay is that I am spending more time out of the UK - I will be in Australia for a few weeks soon and hope to be recording some Aboriginal sounds/music for Chasing The Monsoon/Karnataka.
The Chasing The Monsoon album is sounding very special - we don't just want to release it and forget about it or divert attention with another release. I know this is probably a little bit frustrating for you but hopefully you all understand!! We are now looking into the prospect of doing some live shows with Monsoon - it's a long(ish) term idea but we all feel the material would work well live and open up all sorts of possibilities in terms of presentation.
Other things in the pipe-line..... a possible Karnataka 'un-plugged' project.....new DVD....2008 tour...new Chasing The Monsoon website...a holiday (what's that?!!!!!)
